Cheap, healthy cocktails you can make at home
January. That time of year when the bank balance turns a scarlet red, when people don't venture out to socialise as it doesn't have a place in the new 'no fun' budget. Nights are dark and the days are too, and you're forever conscious that this month you'll have to start your diet or else you're never going to be bikini body ready come July!
But surely that doesn't mean you can't have some fun if it's healthy(ish) and cheap. So what is healthy and cheap apart from walking? Well cheap healthy cocktails you can make at home of course!
Here we've picked out four of our favourites to share with you and bring a little ray of sunshine to your otherwise gloomy January.
CAPE CODDER
Call it a Cape Codder (or a vodka cranberry), either way, it's a simple, cheap and healthy(ish) drink. A carton of cranberry juice can be found for as little as 75p and if you add that to an inexpensive bottle of vodka, you'll have Cape Codders for days at minimal cost.
GIN RICKEY
The Gin Rickey is a classic. All you need is just three ingredients - your favourite gin, a healthy dose of lime, and fill the glass with club soda. Voila! There you have one of the most invigorating gin cocktails you can mix up.
HIGHBALL
Tall drinks will save you the most money as they take longer to drink so a Highball is perfect for just that. Pick up a ginger ale six-pack for a few pounds and grab a bottle of whiskey. You're looking at £15 for a low cost one and when the budget is tight, that sounds pretty good for a week's worth of drinking!
GRAPEFRUIT GINGER FIZZ
And for those of you who are going a step further with Dry January this fruity little number will ensure you aren't missing out. It's so easy with just grapefruit juice, ginger ale and ice. Bingo! Cheap AND super healthy.
We hope these get you through the dark days of January and bring your mind, body and bank balance back up to full health.
